VMware Cloud on Equinix Metal

At VMware Explore Europe last week in Barcelona the company continued its tradition of using the event as a launch pad for the continued evolution and development of its software. One announcement that caught my eye was the Introduction of “VMware Cloud on Equinix Metal”.

The key line in the publication from our perspective at Ascend Cloud Solutions is as follows, “VMware Cloud delivers a consistent infrastructure and operations platform across public clouds, partner clouds, data centers and edge locations” and the broad range of multi-cloud options leads me to perhaps the question we are asked most often at our pre-sales stage.

Can Ascend Cloud Solutions help us migrate to……?

You can insert any of the public and or private cloud providers in that space, be it VMC on AWS, Google Cloud VMware Engine, Azure VMware Solution, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions, OVHCloud the list goes on and that is before you add all the partners in the VMware Cloud Provider Partner Program and on-premises VMware customers perhaps doing a hardware refresh.

That’s a broad range of possible Cloud destinations but we can answer the original question in a quite straightforward manner, the answer is YES!

Yes, we can help you migrate to your Cloud of choice, all those providers have one thing in common and it is that they run a VMware SDDC on top of their own infrastructure. It is true that each of these providers will differentiate their offering from an infrastructure design perspective, but the bottom line is that it’s VMware on top of their Hardware and its VMware where our teams’ skillsets lie.

Ascend Cloud Solutions have been specializing in Managed Migrations with VMware HCX for a long time allowing us to be essentially Cloud agnostic and Technology specific.

If you or your team are planning a VMware migration with HCX in the future, come and have a no obligation conversation with one of our Migration Consultants on
